The Avocado Battle

Avocados are a great source of many vitamins, minerals and healthy fats, but are they worth the trouble of cutting them up? Due to my dear teammate (Heather Hippensteel) and a recent occurrence with a member or ours at Invictus, I thought it was time to help the people of our great fitness community. You no longer need to fight the good fight with your avocado pit. Here are two avocado peelers for less than $10 that will save your fingers and a trip to the ER.

Avacado pit
Option #1: Highly recommended for those who only enter the kitchen by necessity, are a child in the kitchen or have children that love to help in the kitchen.
Peeling, pitting and mashing an avocado is child’s play with this multitasking tool. A serrated edge cuts through the skin, a curved tip detaches the pit and a scoop removes the flesh. A slotted masher makes quick work of the flesh.
Option #2: Recommended for those who venture into the kitchen but don’t necessarily know their way around a knife.

OXO Good Grips® 3-in-1 Avocado Slicer
Split, pit, slice and scoop avocados safely and effectively with the Oxo Good Grips® 3-in-1 Avocado Tool. The plastic blade easily cuts through the skin and fruit of the avocado, without being sharp to the touch.

Option #3: If you know your way around the kitchen and enjoy a solid kitchen tool.
Avocado peel sliceThe Avocado Slicer and Pitter
Easily pit and slice avocados with this safe and easy to use kitchen tool. Use the nylon loop end to remove the pit without damaging the fruit. Use the stainless steel wire end to scoop the fruit and create perfectly uniform slices for exquisite presentations. The avocado slicer and pitter is dishwasher safe.
Whether you’re an expert in the kitchen or not, any of these 3 tools can speed up your productivity and help make avocados a little less of a hassle. Grab one of these tools at your local kitchen store or online for yourself or a friend in need. Friends don’t let friends de-pit an avocado with a knife. Stay safe.
