Mobilizations are basically active or “dynamic” stretches and rhythmical movements that “massage” your muscles and joints with movement.
Kelly Starrett is the “CrossFit Mobility Guy” that many of us know. He published a book a few years ago called “Becoming a Supple Leopard”. If your new to CrossFit, fitness, or just plain trying to “not hurt” from sitting at your desk all day; I recommend investing in learning how to target problem areas. Kelly’s book is a good start.
Our bodies are meant to be in motion versus a sedentary state. However, most of us have occupations that require us to sit, stand, and be immobile. This causes shortening of muscles that then leads to injury. Thus, mobilization can prevent injury due to sports, inactivity, or the combination.
